Recently, Vetri Vellore (CVP of for Microsoft, formally CEO and founder) and Lori Craw (Senior Director of Product Marketing) invited customers to a webinar to share more about Microsoft Viva and what an Employee Experience Platform is, talk about the direction the product is heading, and why OKRs are a critical piece of the employee experience.

You can view the entire discussion here, which was capped off by a Q&A with the audience. The engagement from the passionate customers who were able to join live was fantastic as always. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get to every question during the live session, but fear not; the unanswered questions we didn’t get to can be found below, complete with responses.

Key Questions from “The Future of the Employee Experience” fireside chat:

Will Ally become part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite? will be a part of Microsoft Viva, which is powered by Microsoft Teams and Office 365. There are aspects of Viva that are included automatically in an Office 365 subscription, but the Viva suite and premium modules are offered as a separate subscription. Viva Learning and Viva Insights appear on the app list, but the rest don't. Is that because they aren't live yet?

Microsoft Viva modules work in a variety of ways. Connections, for example, built on your current Microsoft 365 ecosystem and powered by SharePoint, and Topics uses AI to leverage the content you already have. You can use the Microsoft 365 admin center to set up and configure Topics.

Will there be any OKR integration into individual performance management (IPM) capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem? I don't believe Viva has a module for IPM, and Ally discontinued that feature.

We are working closely with both Microsoft and third-party vendors to enable a flexible workstream for companies that want to connect OKRs to Performance Management. Along with our counterparts from various Microsoft functions, we are passionate about creating an environment that enables every member of your organization, and we understand that each organization has unique DNA that will need a flexible approach to how this work is enabled. We’ll share more in the coming months.

Will Viva allow for Power BI to integrate dashboards into Ally for growth tracking?

We are working closely with the PowerBI team to develop the best integration scenarios possible, PowerBI is a core tool for many Microsoft customers, and Viva is expected to be as well. The integration between and PowerBI is an exciting pair, and will expand well beyond a dashboard embed. Expect more details in the coming months.

Will you be striving to apply similar "2 click" integration as described for PowerBI, with other BI tools such as Looker or Tableau?

Absolutely. The ease-of-use you’ve come to expect from integrations is core to the way we operate. This is true for both Microsoft tools and external integrations. We will continue to strive to connect your OKRs to every place work happens for your team, and do so in a way that keeps the complexity off your plate.

For those that have already paid for the whole year, will we get a full Viva subscription instead?

If you are an customer, you have nothing to worry about. Your contract will continue, uninterrupted, through its term. At that time (or before, if you prefer), we’ll work with you to move into a Viva subscription so you can continue to run your business using OKRs without interruption.

Do you need a LinkedIn Learning License to use Viva Learning?

No, Viva Learning is available through your Microsoft Teams instance, and your content sources are managed through the Microsoft 365 admin center. The administrators for the Microsoft 365 admin center — either by themselves or by assigning the knowledge admin role to selected individuals in your organization — can manage settings related to Viva Learning and can configure the Learning content sources. Content from Microsoft Learn, Microsoft 365 Training, and select content from LinkedIn Learning is available for free and enabled by default, but what you choose to include is completely up to your organization.

Will it be possible to use as a stand-alone tool without the other Viva modules?

Yes, you will be able to use the module as a standalone product, and we will continue to enable that use case. That said, I think you’ll start to see an outsized value in leveraging the integration across the Viva suite, which brings a lot of pieces of the puzzle together at once.

Will customers who use as a stand-alone tool get any future product updates?

Yes. While we’ve been primarily focused on migration and integration with other Microsoft and Viva products, we are continuing work on core OKR use cases that will be added to both the Microsoft Teams app and the stand-alone webapp. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that you and your team have the best, most innovative tools at your disposal so that your OKR program drives alignment and growth and doesn’t stand in the way of your team being more productive. This is at the heart of every decision we make. Expect innovation to not only continue, but increase.

Are you planning to raise the service price?

We have no plans to raise the cost of our services. Both and Microsoft recognize that for our customers to be successful in the long run, enablement is key. We will continue to support this effort. We will make the options around services more flexible by leveraging Microsoft’s vast partner ecosystem to scale our ability to serve customers in a meaningful way.

Our Organization is currently a customer of both and Microsoft 365, separately. Will our OKRs be transferred and how will the pricing model work?

We will work with you for a seamless transition of the OKRs within your current instance so you don’t miss a beat. Pricing information is coming soon! Expect an update this summer.

Do you offer any help with rollout of these features to enterprises?

Yes! Both the team and the broader Microsoft Viva team are committed to successful deployments for our customers. We do this through in-house services and training, on-demand learning that can solve most problems, and partners that are trained experts in both the technical side and the change management aspects of a solution like this. You will be in good hands, and either your customer success rep or your Microsoft representative will be able to help you connect the dots and ensure you are getting the support you need for a successful rollout.
